This Privacy Policy explains how the operator of WestchesterBarbers.com (the “Site”) (“we,” “us” or “our”) collects, uses and shares information through the Site.
In short: we collect only what you choose to send us through our forms, plus the basic technical data any website needs to run. We don't use advertising cookies or tracking pixels, we don't run third-party analytics, and we don't sell or share your personal information for targeted advertising.
1. Information we collect
Information you give us
- Claiming a listing or buying Featured: your name, role, email address, phone number, any message you include, the plan you chose, and a record of your agreement to our terms (the terms version, date and time, and your IP address).
- Suggesting a shop: the business details you provide and, if you choose to give it, your email address and any note.
- Contact and correction requests: your name, email address, the listing concerned and your message.
- Featured listing content: photos, descriptions and links you ask us to publish. This content becomes public on the Site.
Payments
Payments are processed by our payment processor (currently Stripe). Stripe collects your payment details under its own privacy policy. We receive information such as your name, email address, billing status and the last digits of your card, but never your full card number.
Business listing information
Listings contain information about businesses — such as names, addresses, business phone numbers and websites — collected from publicly available sources and from business owners. If a business is named after a person, or a listing includes a person's name, that information may appear on the Site. See section 5 for how to correct or remove it.
Information collected automatically
- The Site is hosted by Cloudflare, which processes technical information such as IP addresses, browser type and request logs to deliver the Site and protect it from abuse. Cloudflare may set strictly necessary security cookies.
- The Site loads fonts from Google Fonts, so Google receives your IP address when you visit.
- We do not use analytics services, advertising cookies or tracking pixels.
- Links to maps, booking services and business websites take you to third-party sites governed by their own privacy policies.
2. How we use information
- to run, maintain and improve the Site and its listings;
- to respond to your messages and requests;
- to verify that you are authorized to act for a business;
- to provide Featured listings, including billing, renewal and cancellation notices;
- to send you service emails about your listing (we don't send marketing email to people who haven't asked for it, and you can opt out of any non-essential email at any time);
- to prevent spam, fraud and abuse; and
- to comply with the law and enforce our terms.
3. How we share information
We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral (targeted) advertising. We share it only:
- with service providers who help us run the Site — currently Cloudflare (hosting, database and email delivery), Stripe (payments) and our email provider — and only as needed to provide their services to us;
- when you ask us to publish something in a listing;
- when required by law, or to protect the rights, safety and property of our users, the public or us; and
- with a buyer or successor if the Site is sold or transferred, subject to this Privacy Policy.
4. How long we keep information
We keep contact, claim and submission records for as long as needed to handle your request and maintain the listing, and generally no longer than three years after our last interaction with you. We keep billing and agreement records for as long as required for tax, accounting and legal purposes (generally seven years). We delete or anonymize information when it is no longer needed.
5. Your choices and rights
- You can ask us to tell you what personal information we hold about you, or to correct or delete it, by submitting a privacy request. We will respond within 30 days, and we honor these requests regardless of where you live. We may need to verify your identity, and we may keep information we are legally required to keep.
- Business owners can correct or request removal of a listing through our contact page.
6. Children's privacy
The Site is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has sent us personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.
7. Security
We use reasonable administrative, technical and physical safeguards to protect personal information, including encrypted (HTTPS) connections and restricted access to our systems. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. If a security breach affects your personal information, we will notify you as required by law.
8. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The “Last updated” date above shows when it last changed. If we make material changes, we will post a notice on the Site and, where appropriate, notify you by email.
